Canned foods are having a chemical called Bisphenol-A or BPA, which demonstrably affects how genes work in the brain of NAS rats. Tomatoes are unusually high in acid, which results in the BPA being taken even from the coating of the canon tomatoes. Be sure to cook fresh if you like tomatoes.
