The long-simmering feud between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor will finally come to a head at UFC 194. While the two aren’t setting off on a world tour as they did for their canceled UFC 189 bout, distance hasn’t made Aldo any less heated.

During a recent roundtable with Rodrigo Nogueira and Pedro Rizzo, held at Rio Sport and Health, UFC featherweight champion Aldo (25-1 MMA, 7-0 UFC) spoke to fans about interim champ McGregor (18-2 MMA, 6-0 UFC) and the bout, which headlines the Dec. 12 card at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The main card airs on pay-per-view following prelims on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
“My focus is to win, nothing but to win, and you can be sure that I will lay hands on him like I’ve never done to anyone else,” Aldo said, according to Globo. “I’m sure he will leave the fight very hurt, and I’m leaving with the victory.”
Aldo pulled out of the July UFC 189 bout after suffering a rib injury in training. McGregor stayed on the card and defeated Chad Mendes to win the interim title.
The UFC 189 world tour was filled with confrontations between the fighters. That didn’t change when the two found themselves on the same stage at the UFC’s “GO BIG” media event in September:
A bit of trash-talk led to a face-off, which led to a headbutt and UFC President Dana White holding the men apart.
Still, Aldo told fans at the roundtable that it’s more emotionally affecting to see Flamengo – his favorite soccer team – lose than to deal with McGregor’s mouth.
“Provocations come from him,” Aldo said. “He sees the camera and puts on a little show. Now, when they put me by surprise in the ‘TUF’ house (where McGregor is serving as coach for ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ Season 22), he held out his hand to shake mine. I was thinking we were going to fight right then and there. He went to complain to Dana (White) and (UFC Chairman and CEO) Lorenzo (Fertitta), and said they pranked him. Now, when Flamengo loses, it’s really messed up. It ruins my Sunday. Especially when I go to the stadium. Of course I get sad.”
